Japan's highest mountain Mount Fuji (富士山, Fujisan) is a symbol of Japan which rises to 3776 meters. It is an active volcano, which most recently erupted in 1707. It stands on the border between Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures and can be seen from Tokyo and Yokohama on clear days.
It's very easy to enjoy Mount Fuji at a more leisurely pace and from a nice natural surrounding, you should head to the Fuji Five Lake (Fujigoko) region at the northern foot of the mountain, or to Hakone, a nearby hot spring resort. Mount Fuji is officially open for climbing during July and August via several routes.
In this article, I will share our 2 days trip itinerary without car while staying in Kawaguchiko, Yamanashi.
Love in Mount Fuji (Day#1)
We went to Kawaguchiko station from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal, Tokyo by highway bus at the end of December, 2020. We reserved our highway bus ticket four days earlier of our trip from Tokyu Bus (Cost: 2000 yen, one way). It takes around 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach at Kawaguchiko Station.
We also reserved a hotel Toyoko Inn Fuji Kawaguchiko Ohashi (Cost: 6695 yen, per night), which is located beside lake kawaguchiko.
After reaching Kawaguchiko Station, at first we took our lunch at Aladdin Indo Restaurant, which is an Indian restaurant located just beside Kawaguchiko lake.
Next, we enjoyed Ensoleille Excursion Ship ride (Cost: 1000 yen, operates every 30 minutes), which is a popular excursion boat with indoor and outdoor seating offering panoramic views of Mt. Fuji.
After enjoying ship ride, we went to Kawaguchiko Tenjozan Park by Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway (Cost: 900 yen, round trip).
You can enjoy the panoramic view of Mt. Fuji from the observation deck.

After enjoying panoramic view of Mt. Fuji, we went to Oike Park for relaxation and spent few times there. Then, we went to our hotel and checked in.

On the second day, we started the morning with a cup of coffee overlooking Mt. Fuji from our hotel room. The hotel provided buffet breakfast, so we took that and checked out from the hotel.

Now, we got some energy. So, we walk around kawaguchiko lakeside and reached at Nagasaki Park. You can sit there and spend some time for relaxation. Later, we went to Oishi Park, which is a very popular park on Lake Kawaguchiko with Mt. Fuji views, fields of lavender & a kids' playground. If you want to enjoy Lavender, then summer is the best time to visit there. In early summer (mid June to mid July), the beautiful purple lavender flowers are in full bloom and flourish at Oishi Park (大石公園) on the shore of Lake Kawaguchiko.

You may have seen this place's picture several times in the poster or in the internet, which represents the icon of Japan in one frame. This Park offers seasonal cherry blossoms or Autumn foliage, a pagoda & dramatic views of Mt. Fuji. You can also enjoy sunset from there.

We enjoyed spectacular sunset views with Mt. Fuji and a pagoda. Then, we head towards Kawaguchiko station by bus and started our journy to Tokyo by highway bus.
This is the end of our two days trip by public transport. Hope, you enjoy this article!
